The Clinical Affairs department coordinates the efforts of medical educators to implement ATSU-KCOM’s teaching and assessment programs in years three and four of the curriculum. To accomplish this mission, this department:
- Supports third- and fourth-year clinical rotations
- Develops and monitors KCOM’s teaching and assessment criteria for the third and fourth year
- Facilitates the regional site match process for second-year students
- Coordinates clinical activities and assessment requirements in the core regional sites
- Residency match placement support in conjunction with Academic Affairs
Clinical requirements
The academic program for Years 3 and 4 of the osteopathic medicine (DO) program is designed to reflect the College’s strong commitment to primary care and includes both hospital and ambulatory-based rotations. In the last two years of the program, students are based in regional clinical sites and participate in a total of 88 weeks of rotations plus 6 additional weeks of flex/vacation and commencement preparation. Students also complete online coursework and clinically-related didactic coursework.
