Welcome ATSU-SOMA preceptors!
We are honored that you are serving as a preceptor and helping ATSU-SOMA provide quality osteopathic medical education to our students in training. The purpose of this site is to provide information and benefits to both active and prospective preceptors. If you don’t find everything you need to be an effective and satisfied preceptor, please contact Carolina Quezada, MD, FACOFP, Assistant Dean of Clinical Education, cquezada@atsu.edu.
Your Role as a Preceptor
ATSU-SOMA is proud of the exemplary cadre of physician preceptors nationwide who support third- and fourth-year clinical training. These individuals are shaping the next generation of providers by agreeing to supervise and mentor medical students.
Most of our students realize the “essence” of becoming a physician in the 21st century through a combination of office-based and hospital experiences. As such, they are heavily influenced by their preceptors’ passion, empathy, and fortitude.
Preceptors are mentors - a role that requires specific skills and functions. The following areas help clarify your ATSU-SOMA preceptor and adjunct clinical faculty member roles.
Benefits of Primary Preceptors
