Two ATSU-KCOM alumni honored at AOCA 2022 annual convention

Roy Skousen, DO, ’85, receives his degree of Fellow in the AOCA at the AOCA annual convention.

Two A.T. Still University-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) alumni have recently been conferred as Fellows of the American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists (FAOCA).

Walter Rose, DO, ’86, FAOCA, and Roy Skousen, DO, ’85, FAOCA, were awarded this honor at the 2022 American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists’ (AOCA) annual convention. 

Dr. Rose received his doctor of osteopathic medicine from ATSU-KCOM in 1986. He specializes in pediatric anesthesiology and is currently an anesthesiologist at Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Rose also works as an assistant clinical professor and clinical instructor at the University of Louisville, and is an oral board examiner and item writer for the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Skousen received his doctor of osteopathic medicine from ATSU-KCOM in 1985. He is currently an anesthesiologist at the University of New Mexico Sandoval Regional Medical Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Dr. Skousen also serves as an oral board examiner and clinical examiner for the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology.

Both men were honored for their superior levels of service to the AOCA, as well as their leadership skills and compassionate healthcare service to their communities.
