SOMA ACOFP chapter wins national awards
Posted: June 9, 2011
The ATSU-SOMA chapter of the SAACOFP, the student association of the American College of Family Physicians, placed first in two categories, leading chapters in communication and the A.T. Still Award.
The latter award recognizes the chapter for integrating osteopathic principles and practice into family medicine. The award was based on chapter sponsorship of events, speakers, and/or workshops that address the utilization of OMT as a family physician. The chapter also won a $1,000 award, which will be used to pay for programming during Primary Care Week. This is the second national award the chapter has received in three years. Chapter President Gillian Wackowski, OMS II, accepted the chapter’s award during the national ACOFP convention in San Antonio in March.
