Photos: Mesa campus holds Founder’s Day women’s flag football games

A.T. Still University’s Mesa, Arizona, campus kicked off its Founder’s Day celebration with three women’s flag football games this week, including a championship game held on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

A.T. Still University-Arizona School of Health Sciences (ATSU-ASHS) Physician Assistant students went head-to-head with ATSU-ASHS’ Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, and Audiology (OSA) students for this year’s championship title. In a dramatic finish, the OSA team intercepted a pass from PA on the extra-point attempt and took it all the way down the field for the winning conversion. The final score was 7-6.

The first game played on Monday, Oct. 21, was an exciting match, with the OSA team defeating ATSU-School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) students 19-12. On Tuesday, Oct. 22, the OSA team defeated ATSU-ASHS’ Physical Therapy students 18-14, and ATSU-ASHS’ PA students defeated ATSU-Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH) with a final score of 28-0.

The OSA team also won the coveted championship game spirit stick, which is awarded to the team that demonstrates the strongest spirit and good sportsmanship.
