October ATSU-KCOM, ATSU-MOSDOH Student Ambassador Spotlight
Posted: October 23, 2020
Each month, A.T. Still University’s (ATSU) Admissions Office in Kirksville, Missouri, will select student ambassadors to recognize and showcase. Student ambassadors are second-year students who speak and meet with prospective ATSU-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) and ATSU-Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH) students.
ATSU-KCOM Student Ambassador Spotlight: Grant Thimesch
Grant Thimesch, OMS II, completed his undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry at Drury University. He is originally from Iowa and loves baseball, even having played at the collegiate level.

Thimesch is an active member of the Dermatology Club, Sigma Sigma Phi, and has been accepted into the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society. Thimesch’s professional goal is to become a dermatologist, with a specialty in Mohs surgery.
“ATSU is helping me achieve this goal by providing a curriculum that is second to none in both education and hands-on experience,” Thimesch said. “ATSU has also helped facilitate a relationship with Cleaver Dermatology, which is a renowned practice known by many in the Midwest.”

Thimesch said he decided to participate in the ATSU Student Ambassador program because when recruiting prospective students, the most important opinion is from a current student.
“I have had an amazing experience here at ATSU, and I want to tell people about it. ATSU is the trailblazer in osteopathic medicine. I think it is important for applicants to understand the importance of the holistic approach in today’s medicine,” he said.
“My favorite aspect of being a student ambassador is the chance to interact with students who are in the same shoes I was in just a few years ago. Future doctors come from all walks of life, and I enjoy the opportunity of learning about the different paths that lead people to medical school,” Thimesch said.
Congratulations, Grant Thimesch, for being our ATSU-KCOM Student Ambassador spotlight!
ATSU-MOSDOH Student Ambassador Spotlight
Crystal Eschbach, D2, completed her undergraduate degree in biomedical science from Tarleton State University. She also completed a dental hygiene program at Blinn College.
Eschbach is from Texas and enjoys spending time with her dogs, friends, and family, along with woodworking, metalworking, and reading. She is a representative for Gamma Beta Phi and a member of the Genders and Sexualities Alliance, and American Student Dental Association.

Eschbach’s professional goal is to work as a dentist in her rural hometown in Texas.
“I also want to focus on public health and bringing more access to care to the outlying towns in our area,” Eschbach said. “ATSU is instrumental in helping me with this goal because of their focus on public health and caring for the underserved population.”

Eschbach said she decided to participate in ATSU’s Student Ambassador program because she believes in the University’s mission.
“While no school is perfect, I believe ATSU goes above and beyond to ensure the success of the students,” Eschbach said. “My favorite aspect of being a student ambassador is having the privilege to talk with prospective students and share my love for this University.”
