New clean-up information

The following are the latest updates regarding tornado clean-up:

• AmerenUE restored power to all customers affected by the storm on May 16. Officials ask that any customers still without power, or who see a downed wire, call 800.552.7583.
• The Adair County United Way is now coordinating all volunteers. Call 660.665.1924 to help. It’s better to call than to just show up.
• Citizens with property impacted by this tornado are encouraged to contact their insurance provider prior to beginning any major clean-up efforts on damaged property. Once ready to remove trash and debris, citizens
  are encouraged to sort it into the following groups: Loose and Blown Debris, Household Debris or Trash, and Limbs and Brush. The City will arrange for collection of all debris that falls into these groups as long
  as it is separated and placed curbside. Pickup will occur after FEMA determines funding assistance.
• Free supplies – food, cases of water, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, hygiene items, baby supplies, clothing, shoes, blankets, pillows, mops, brooms, and more have been donated, and Erick Hanson will be distributing these itmes in Kirksville and the surrounding area at no cost to the community. • All citizens are encouraged to stay away from the area of Highway 63/Baltimore from Highway 6 West to the northern city limits of Kirksville. There are lots of emergency personnel on-site in this area, and traffic is
  congested. Please use alternate routes for travel, when possible.
