As we begin a new academic year, the library team has been busy engaging with students, faculty, and staff across campus to ensure everyone feels welcomed and supported. Here’s a quick look at some of the exciting events we’ve been part of over the past few months:
- Information Fair: We kicked off the semester by participating in the campus-wide Information Fair, where we connected with new dental and medical students. At our welcome table, we shared helpful resources and answered questions about library services, ensuring students know how to access everything they need for success.
- Open House: Our library also hosted an Open House for KCOM and MOSDOH. Inviting students, faculty, and students to explore our spaces, meet our team, and learn more about the diverse range of available services and resources. It was a great opportunity for both new and returning students to discover all that the library offers.
- Exciting New Additions to Our Library Spaces: We’re thrilled to announce the addition of new collaborative and individual study furniture in the library basement, further enhancing the diverse learning spaces available throughout the building.
- Wellness in the Library: We’ve also introduced a treadmill desk for those looking to stay active while studying or working on projects. Whether you’re teaming up with classmates or diving into individual research, we’ve got the perfect spot for you. Come check it out!
- Diversifying Our Collection: We’ve expanded our collections to better reflect and serve our diverse community! New models representing different skin tones are now available for students, along with a fresh selection of leisure reading, including adding more graphic novels. Stop by to explore these exciting additions!
- Into the Community: Collaboration with Adair Public Library, “Navigating the Maze of Health”This partnership fostered health literacy, strengthened the collaboration between the ATSU Library, Adair Public library, and the community, and empowered individuals to make informed health decisions.
- A.T. Still Memorial Library on A.T. Still University’s Kirksville, Missouri campus is pleased to announce “Rise, Serve, Lead! America’s Women Physicians,” an exhibit to be displayed at the library from Oct. 14-Nov. 23, 2024. The traveling banner exhibition and companion website highlight the lives and achievements of women physicians in the U.S. who have made a difference through their medical practice and research, work as activists, service as administrators, and mentorship to the next generation of doctors. Rise, Serve, Lead! includes a selection of the women featured in the 2003 NLM exhibition Changing the Face of Medicine: Celebrating America’s Women Physicians, encouraging today’s audiences to connect with the work of these pioneers. The companion website showcases the biographies of more than 300 women doctors who have made their mark on the profession. The National Library of Medicine produced this exhibition and companion website.
We’re excited for the year ahead and look forward to continuing our mission of supporting student success and fostering academic collaboration! Stay tuned for more events and opportunities to engage with us.
