Missouri campus librarian honored with NLM/AAHSL leadership fellowship
Posted: October 9, 2024Maud Mundava, MLS, MBA, AHIP, Missouri campus library head librarian and assistant university library director, has completed and graduated from a one-year leadership fellowship program from the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries (AAHSL).
“I am honored to have been selected for the highly competitive NLM/AAHSL one-year Academic Health Sciences Leadership program,” Mundava said.
“The opportunity is a significant milestone in my professional journey and I am deeply grateful to Hal Bright, MLS, AHIP, university library director, for supporting my application and participation. My sincere thanks also goes to my mentor, Heidi Heilemann, associate dean, Knowledge Management, director, Lane Medical Library, Stanford University. Her encouragement and insights have been invaluable in my development as a leader. I look forward to bringing the insights and skills gained to benefit the library team and institution.”
The program is focused on preparing emerging leaders for director positions in academic health sciences libraries, and being a fellow is recognition of a substantial record of accomplishment and demonstrable leadership potential. Mundava participated in a yearlong program of in-person and virtual learning, including a week-long onsite visit to Stanford University and a mentor relationship with a library director.
In recognition of the fellows and mentors, a reception and graduation ceremony was held on Friday, Sept. 27, in Baltimore, Maryland, at the University of Maryland Health Sciences and Human Services Library.
