Audiology grads honored

Drs. Jagger and Bohn

On Aug. 2, 2013, following the A.T. Still University-Arizona School of Health Sciences (ATSU-ASHS) summer commencement, the Audiology department held its dinner and awards ceremony to honor new graduates.

All audiology graduates received pins and recited the Audiology Oath. Following the oath, Les Schmeltz, AuD, CCC-A, associate professor, and Tabitha Parent Buck, AuD, professor and chair, presented three special awards. The Outstanding Student in Audiology awards were given to Amanda Bohn, AuD, ’13, and Sara Jagger, AuD, ’13. The entry-level audiology graduates were selected by program faculty based on their positive attitude, strong work ethic, involvement in professional and community service activities, and positive interactions with peers, faculty, staff, and the community.

The third award, the AFA Professional Leadership Award, was presented to Chris Focht, AuD, ’13. Dr. Focht, a graduate of the Transitional Doctor of Audiology program, was recognized for his positive attitude, strong work ethic, involvement in professional activities, belief in service to the community and education of future audiologists, as well as service as a role model for fellow students and colleagues.
