Three registered student organizations from A.T. Still University’s (ATSU) Mesa, Arizona, campus partnered for a blood drive on April 15, with the assistance of the American Red Cross bloodmobile.

Students from ATSU-Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health’s (ATSU-ASDOH) Students United for America’s Toothfairy (SUAT) and Student National Dental Association (SNDA), along with the ATSU-School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) Student Government Association (SGA), came together for the spring blood drive.

Valandra Sierra, D2, SUAT community service specialist, explained the goal was to collect 23 units, but in total the students ended up donating 30 whole blood units and two power red units, which consist of two units of red blood cells made in one donation.

“Absolutely destroyed the goal,” Sierra said. “It was the first time ATSU-ASDOH was included in a blood drive event and we could not have had a better turnout.”
