Black Tie Optional
Black Tie Optional is normally followed at large business or formal gatherings. If an invitation specifies ‘black tie optional’, it means that the guests have the choice to wear formal attire, but personalize a bit according to their preferences. Despite allowances for personal flair, it is still necessary for men to wear some manner of suit, and women to wear gown or cocktail-type apparel.
