ATSU ranks among top total minority producers of health sciences degrees
Posted: December 19, 2023A.T. Still University of Health Sciences (ATSU) has been recognized by Diverse: Issues In Higher Education as a top producer of health science degrees earned by students from diverse backgrounds.
Diverse is a bi-weekly news magazine that has been dedicated to covering matters of access, diversity, inclusion, and opportunity for all in higher education since 1984.
ATSU was ranked among the top 100 degree producers for minority students in three health science specialties:
- No. 11 for doctoral degrees in osteopathic medicine, which includes ATSU-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) and ATSU-School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA).
- No. 24 for doctoral degrees in dentistry, which includes ATSU-Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH) and ATSU-Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH).
- No. 33 for doctoral degrees in rehabilitation and therapeutic professions, which includes ATSU-Arizona School of Health Sciences’ (ATSU-ASHS) Occupational Therapy (OT) programs and Physical Therapy (PT) programs.
As a leading source of news, information, and commentary on diversity in American higher education, Diverse publishes an annual list of the top 100 producers of associate, bachelor’s, and graduate degrees awarded to minority students.
The rankings are based on data gathered by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics for its Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). For its Nov. 23, 2023, issue, Diverse focused its rankings specifically on health science students.
ATSU is deeply committed to an educational and collaborative environment embracing cultural proficiency in the health sciences. Earlier this year, the University was named a recipient of the 2023 Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award by INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine for the seventh consecutive year.
