ATSU-KCOM holds commencement ceremony for 125th year

A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) celebrated a new class of osteopathic physicians on May 20, 2017. This class represents ATSU-KCOM’s 181st graduating class in the University’s 125th year. Adrienne White-Faines, MPA, FACHE, served as the commencement speaker for the ceremony. White-Faines currently serves as CEO of the American Osteopathic Association.

White-Faines has also served as chief operating officer at Renwal Emergency Medical Services, a Chicago-based healthcare management consulting firm for hospitals and physicians. White-Faines received her masters of public administration degree from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She has served on the National Association of Health Service Executives since 1985, and is a diplomate for the American College of Healthcare Executives since 1995. Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Patient Centered Primary Care Collaborative based in Washington, D.C., and the Erikson Institute based in Chicago, Illinois.

Stephen Shannon, DO, MPH, served as grand marshal for the ceremony. Dr. Shannon currently serves as President of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM). Prior to serving as AACOM president, Dr. Shannon was vice president for Health Services and dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of New England since 1995. He is board certified in preventative medicine and osteopathic family practice. Dr. Shannon also was instrumental in the development of a Master of Public Health program within the university, and is a founder and past chair of the Board of the Maine Center for Public Health.
