ATSU-KCOM and ATSU-SOMA alumni and students reception held during AOMA Convention
Posted: July 20, 2017A.T. Still University’s (ATSU) DO alumni and students joined ATSU’s School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) Dean Jeffrey Morgan, DO and ATSU’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) Regional Associate Dean for Arizona Robert Ligorsky, DO during the American Osteopathic Medical Association (AOMA) Convention in Scottsdale, Arizona on April 20, 2017 – below is a summary of the updates they shared:
- This year marks the 125th anniversary of ATSU-KCOM and the osteopathic profession – we are proud of the legacy our alumni have built and excited to celebrate this milestone with you. One of the highlights will be Founder’s Day – please watch for information regarding events taking place in Kirksville October 19-21.
- We just opened the A.T. Still University Osteopathic Medicine Center Arizona this month on the Mesa campus, where our ATSU-SOMA students, fellows, and faculty will be serving those in the community, particularly children with special needs. If you would like a tour of the center, please contact our medical director, Dr. David Shoup.
- Our ATSU-KCOM and ATSU-SOMA classes of 2017 both have a 100% GME match rate, with the majority of our graduates going into primary care. Additionally, they continue to outperform their peers at other osteopathic colleges on board exams.
- Our ATSU-KCOM students benefit from a curriculum that is both “high touch” and “high tech,” keeping with the core philosophy and principles of osteopathy while also using the latest technology such as a fully integrated bedside ultrasound program and a state-of-the-art human patient simulation lab.
- We are proud that the 2017 National Student DO of the Year is an ATSU-SOMA student, Daniel Ebbs. This is the second year in a row one of our ATSU-SOMA students received this award – last year’s recipient was Timothy Lemaire, ’16.
