ATSU-ASHS faculty member receives National Institute on Drug Abuse award

An A.T. Still University-Arizona School of Health Sciences (ATSU-ASHS) faculty member was one of three recipients of a National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Mentored Outreach Award.
Annette Bettridge, PA-C, MS, FNP, assistant professor in the Physician Assistant Studies department, received an award for her project, “Stamp Out Stigma – De-stigmatizing Substance Use Disorders and Comorbid Mental Illness Through Innovative Curricular Strategies.”
Bettridge plans to design curriculum to better educate physician assistant students on substance use disorders and comorbid mental illness, seeking to reduce stigma and improve healthcare access and outcomes.
