ATSU-ASHS’ associate professor recognized with NATA award

Still University-Arizona School of Health Sciences (ATSU-ASHS) Athletic Training program associate professor Cailee Welch Bacon, PhD, ATC, has been awarded the 2024 Professional Development Excellence Award by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) Professional Development Committee.
Recipients of this award must demonstrate an outstanding contribution to athletic training continuing education and professional development that is sustained and impactful at the state, regional, and national levels. Candidates must also be a NATA member in good standing with a minimum of 10 years of membership in the organization.
Dr. Welch Bacon currently serves as associate director of the Athletic Training Practice-Based Research Network (AT-PBRN) and as a research professor in the Department of Basic Science in ATSU’s School of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-SOMA).
Her research focuses on athletic training education, specifically the assessment of athletic training educational outcomes related to the core competencies, the current practice patterns of athletic trainers with a specific focus on patient care documentation patterns, and more.
Dr. Welch Bacon will receive the award during the AT EducATionalist Town Hall June 27, during the 75th NATA Clinical Symposia & AT Expo.
