ATSU-ASHS alumna profile | Brooke Menzie, MS, PA-C ‘10

Brooke Menzie, MS, PA-C ‘10, an emergency medicine physician assistant with TeamHealth, currently works at multiple locations in Arizona. In 2016, she took on a new role working with TeamHealth to pilot a program designed to bring more physician assistants into rural, underserved areas while introducing standardized, industry-leading, evidence-based medicine to these communities. The program goal is to utilize physician assistants to be the eyes and ears for off-site specialists, as they render care to communities with limited access to healthcare. Menzie has been helping develop the program while working at a critical access hospital in a rural setting, located 150 miles away from the nearest trauma center.

This position has lead Menzie to seek multiple certifications courses this year, such as Advance Trauma Life Support and bedside ultrasound, to learn advanced techniques for emergent bedside intervention. Additionally this year, Menzie has sought and successfully achieved the specialty Certificate of Added Qualifications status in emergency medicine. She also works at A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Health Sciences (ATSU-ASHS) as adjunct faculty teaching one clinical medicine class per semester in the advanced physician assistant program.

Menzie resides in San Antonio, Texas where her husband is an active duty military orthodontist. She has two girls, ages 2 and 5. In between caring for her children and traveling to Arizona, Menzie enjoys taking non-degree-seeking courses in finance, investing, and asset management and participating in triathlons.
