2019-20 athletic training high school workshops
Posted: July 10, 2020The Athletic Training Student Association (ATSA) at A.T. Still University has a long-standing tradition of hosting high school sports medicine and athletic training workshops. During these workshops, high school sports medicine students from across the state are invited to the Mesa, Arizona campus to learn about athletic training. This event is considered one of the highlights for athletic training students and is the Association’s primary fundraising event.
The first of two scheduled workshops was held on Dec. 10, 2019, and had approximately 80 attendees from around the Phoenix and Tucson areas. The theme for the fall workshop was functional movement and rehabilitation techniques. Attendees learned about the foundational movements of rolling and crawling, the fundamentals of breathing mechanics and assessment, postural assessments, and the functional movement screen.
A second workshop was planned as part of National Athletic Training Month in March, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this event had to be cancelled.
