Still OPTI and the National Center for Osteopathic Principles and Practice Education (NCOPPE) are hosting a 4-hour CME event (4 AOA Category 1-A credits) about the Fascial Distortion Model.  This course will occur on the last day of A.T. Still University’s Founder’s Day.

Course Information

A variety of approaches may be taken for the diagnosis and osteopathic manipulative treatment of somatic dysfunction. This program will introduce approaches to the fascial distortion model.

Introduction to Fascial Distortion Model (FDM)

  • Describe six general types of fascial distortion
  • Describe the characteristic body language (gesture) associated with each of 6 types of fascial distortion
  • Identify the characteristic verbal descriptions that patients use to describe each of 6 types of fascial distortion

FDM Technique Principles and Clinical Application

  • Perform direct release of a fascial trigger band
  • Perform direct reduction of a herniated trigger point in the fascia
  • Perform direct release of a fascial continuum distortion
  • Perform indirect release of a folding distortion in the fascia
  • Perform direct release of a cylinder distortion
  • Perform direct release of a tectonic fixation
