Klebsiella pneumoniae

Nope this is not the correct answer either. This organism will usually cause a typical pneumonia with acute onset and sometimes a "current jelly" sputum. Normally this organism infects people who are alcoholics, have had a previous respiratory viral infection, or are likely to aspirate. The gram stain of the sputum would have revealed many gram negative rods. Try again.
