Looks like a few lab tests will be needed. I suggest an ANA, ASO, Rheumatoid factor. Also look to see if in past charts Sally has had any previous illnesses or is immunocompromised. Is she taking any medications? Does she have any allergies? What about travel to other places? Think about the following conditions: Lyme disease, traumatic arthritis, Hoeprich-Schloen purpura, endocarditis, acute rheumatic fever, septic arthritis, congenital heart defects, rheumatoid arthritis, early leukemia, and SLE.
