Doing the DAT | Joshua H.

Shadow

I initially pursued a DAT in order to advance my research and educational career, which it certainly has accomplished. What I did not expect the DAT to do was provide me with the resiliency and leadership skills needed to tackle issues of diversity and the Coronavirus pandemic.

Within this past tumultuous year, I have been able to apply the lessons learned and skills of quality improvement, disruptive innovation, and collaborative leadership to support the performing arts community. With these newfound skills, the DAT has provided not only the knowledge, but the capacity to recover from struggles.

Utilizing these methods of creative problem solving, I have been able to collaboratively challenge concepts of equitable care for the dance community, host virtual continuing education conferences for dance medicine professionals and dance educators, as well as continue to provide on-site treatments for dance universities and dance companies in New York City.
