One of the main reasons I wanted to complete my Doctor of Athletic Training (DAT) is that I wanted to improve myself and my craft for the sake of others. Working at the multiple locations that I did showed me that people rely on athletic trainers to do what they love. During my time in professional sports, those people relied on me to help them stay healthy so they could do their jobs that they love. At the high school and college levels, we see the same thing, with people relying on you to guide them through a healthy lifestyle to help them enjoy and perform in the sport they love. It was not good enough to only improve for myself; I needed to improve for the sake of others. Looking back at my time in the program, I can confidently say that I have met my goal. I am now a better athletic trainer, able to help others more effectively through not only my improved rehabilitation skills, but also through the leadership skills that I have gained through the program.
