The Center for Advanced Oral Health
The Center for Advanced Oral Health at A.T. Still University of Health Sciences’ Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH) in Mesa, Arizona provides comprehensive, patient-centered dentistry for those with advanced oral healthcare needs.
The Center for Advanced Oral Health supports the community’s dental practices in response to the complex needs of medically underserved patients.
The Center for Advanced Oral Health offers assistance to dentists with specialized, high-risk cases while ensuring they remain the primary dental care providers.
In keeping with ATSU’s founding mission to care for the underserved and challenging-to-serve, the 11,000-square-foot clinic is Arizona’s first to offer the expertise and technology to treat patients with complicating factors, such as cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, bariatric needs, cardiac disease, hemophilia and other blood disorders, kidney/liver disease, as well as physical and developmental disabilities. The Center for Advanced Oral Health includes the Dr. Rick Workman Advanced Care Clinic and the Orthodontic Clinic.
Dental practices may not be set up to address complex medical conditions that require advanced needs dentistry. Extra time is needed to consult with other physicians, and research medical and personal histories, thereby limiting a staff’s ability to serve other patients. That’s when The Center for Advanced Oral Health can help.
In one location with one appointment, patients are connected with the advanced care dentistry they need. There’s no need to search out and refer to multiple specialists, because The Center for Advanced Oral Health brings all the expertise on site. These world-class teaching specialists are top medical professionals, supported by the nation’s premier students and residents, who address each patient’s needs in one location for maximum efficiency and convenience.
Ongoing communication and coordination keep primary care dentists informed and involved with each patient’s progress.
The Center for Advanced Oral Health also coordinates complex dentistry care for area hospitals, the Arizona Kidney Foundation, the Hemophilia Foundation and the Huntington Disease Foundation. Additionally, The Center for Advanced Oral Health participates in the Ryan White program which is funded in whole or in part by the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Health Services and Resources Administration, the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act of 2009 and Maricopa County.
Most health insurance plans are accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid.
The Center for Advanced Oral Health is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
