A.T. Still University preceptors
ATSU medical students are supported by dedicated physician mentors who serve as preceptors, training and guiding the next generation of community healers.
Through a combination of clinic, office, and hospital-based experiences, ATSU medical students realize the “essence” of becoming a physician in the 21st century. As such, they are heavily influenced by the passion, empathy, and fortitude of their preceptors.
ATSU offers many opportunities and benefits to those who serve as preceptors. Additional information about ATSU preceptors is available through the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM) and School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (SOMA) websites.
Preceptor continuing medical education
Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit is available for eligible preceptors.
Osteopathic physicians
Osteopathic physicians serving as preceptors in any AOA approved osteopathic medical education program may be granted Category 1-B credit. A maximum of 60 hours of AOA Category 1-B for preceptoring may be applied to the 120-hour requirement. Upon receipt of the completed Clinical Performance Evaluation for the rotation, CME credit will be confirmed. Credit for osteopathic physicians is submitted to the AOA on a quarterly basis (April, July, October, January).
Allopathic physicians
A.T. Still University of Health Sciences is an accredited osteopathic residency provider, and teaching osteopathic residents or medical students meets the requirements for AMA PRA Category 2 Credit™.
Upon receipt of the completed Clinical Performance Evaluation for the rotation, CME credit will be confirmed and you will receive a certificate from the ATSU CE office indicating the number of credits earned.
These hours are self-reported by the physician and may be utilized for state or other licensing purposes. Self-reporting of hours should include the activity title or description, subject or content area, date(s) of participation and number of credits claimed.
